Mrs & Mrs May

7th August 2022

As we drove up the winding track through College Valley in the Cheviot Hills, Northumberland, at sundown on the night before Tamsin and Becca's big day, Nathan and I knew that we were in for a treat. Out of nowhere, the rolling hills of Northumberland gave way to climbing mountains which rose on either side of the valley and in the heart of that valley - the venue we had travelled to scope out - Cuddystone Hall - a small but striking building reminiscent of chapels of a bygone age which currently acts as a wedding venue.

We'd met Tamsin and Becca in the winter of 2021 and had been moved by their love for each other as well as the love for and from their families which was evident in the stories that they shared with us of their relationship, their engagement and their wedding planning. It came as no surprise to us, then, when their wedding day - an intimate gathering of close family and friends in the shadow of the hill on which Becca had proposed, was bursting with love and warmth.

This wedding was highly personalised, with the girls and their families having planned and designed the whole day right down to every decorative item and it's placement. We worked hard to honour this by photographing every detail. Tamsin and Becca booked the Heather package, which meant that they had both of us from first thing in the morning until the end of speeches and had Nathan covering the evening celebrations until they were ready to say goodbye. This allowed us to capture both of the brides' preparations, multiple angles of the ceremony as well as different perspectives on the group photographs whilst allowing people to relax in the evenings without the pressure of two photographers in the space!

We love Tamsin and Becca's sense of adventure and love of the great out doors; it's a value that aligned with ours and we were excited to be invited into their beloved camper van for a short trip to a nearby beauty spot for their private photo shoot. We're always open to travelling by road or foot to find the perfect spot for private photos - and the place that the girls had chosen didn't disappoint. We had the golden light of early evening on our side and were able to capture some truly timeless images of the new Mrs and Mrs May!
