Mr and Mrs Billington

Sinead and James' wedding was our first opportunity to photograph a couple at Charlton Hall in Northumberland; and what a perfect venue it was for this couple! Elegant but fun & quirky and finished to the highest standard.

When Nathan first talked to the couple over Zoom, he learned that the wedding would be a late Autumn wedding with the colours of Autumn and Winter playing a part in Sinead's theme for the day. This was an exciting prospect for me in the editing suite as October is my favourite month of the year; and Autumn/Winter colours are always an exciting colour palette to get my hands on!

Charlton Hall provides the charming Stable Cottage for bridal preparations which looked particularly beautiful in the late October light surrounded by fallen leaves. Nathan likes to arrive in plenty of time of his official start time to capture the quiet moments before the day starts; the rooms before they're full of activity & the venue while it still feels sleepy in the morning.

We're often asked what influences our editing style - and although our colour grading is the same for every wedding, we do alter our lighting slightly according the mood of the day, the couple & the season in which we're shooting. For me in the editing suite, the preparations for this wedding required some shadow to bring out the rich colours of the bouquet, the intricate lacework on the bride's sleeve and the cosy atmosphere of Stable Cottage.

We're in love with these ceremony photos. Charlton Hall's ceremony room is just spectacular - and of course Sinead and James look absolutely fabulous! The couple chose our one photographer full day package so Nathan stationed himself at the front of the aisle to capture all of the key moments of the ceremony as well as the faces of the guests as they shared in the moment. We also love a good confetti moment - some venues don't allow confetti in their key areas - but we always make enquiries before the wedding about things like this so that we know of any good confetti spots that we might be able to use on the day.

This private photo shoot is a really good example of what happens when a couple feels that they can relax in Nathan's company (which luckily, they always can!). We offer couples the option to pose for their photographs, which often makes for some beautiful shots, but also encourage couples to just walk and talk from beauty spot to beauty spot around the venue, which is when the natural, candid moments between them happen. More often than not, it's these natural moments that end up being a couple's favourite shots from the day.

A good proportion of this couple's photo package covered their speeches up to their first dance because the party & social aspect of their day was so important to them. They're a much loved couple by their friends and family - and Nathan had a whale of a time getting to know their favourite people. As per every wedding, Nathan took some time to capture the reception room before the guests filled it and then captured the bride's first look at the space - a chance to admire the fruits of her labours! Sinead's first dance with both her husband and her nearest and dearest was really emotional and Nathan worked hard to capture the changing emotions from high energy to heartfelt tenderness and back to fun and laughter.

Once the party was well underway Sinead and James requested some time alone with Nathan to get some more photographs together. We often get these requests and we're always very happy to do more than one private shoot, especially when your venue is as beautiful as this! We're your photographer(s) for the day, so it's up to you how you make use of our time! These photos felt so classic and timeless, and we hope that they provide this couple with a reminder of this beautiful day for the rest of their lives. We wish them both a very happy future together!
